Modern Architecture

In commercial construction, precision is not optional—it’s essential. Metal framing forms the structural backbone of interior spaces, affecting everything from wall alignment to ceiling systems and final finishes.

At H&D Construction, metal framing is a critical part of our commercial construction services. Our team understands that accuracy at this stage directly impacts the quality, efficiency, and durability of the entire project.

What Is Metal Framing?

Metal framing uses cold-formed steel studs and tracks to create wall systems, soffits, and ceiling structures. It is the preferred choice for commercial construction due to its strength, consistency, and compliance with modern building codes.

Unlike wood, metal framing resists warping, shrinking, and moisture-related damage, making it ideal for commercial environments.

Why Precision Matters in Metal Framing

Accurate Layouts

Precise layouts ensure walls are straight, square, and properly aligned with architectural plans. This accuracy allows other trades—such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC—to work efficiently.

Structural Integrity

Properly installed metal framing provides the strength needed to support drywall, ceilings, and architectural features. Small errors at this stage can lead to costly corrections later.

Clean Final Finishes

Straight framing results in smooth drywall surfaces and clean ceiling lines, improving the overall appearance of the space.

Metal Framing and Commercial Coordination

Metal framing is often the first major interior phase of construction. When done correctly, it sets the pace for the entire project.

At H&D Construction, we coordinate closely with:

  • General contractors

  • Inspectors

  • Other trades on site

This ensures framing is code-compliant, inspection-ready, and aligned with project schedules.

Common Commercial Applications for Metal Framing

Metal framing is used throughout commercial construction, including:

  • Retail spaces

  • Office interiors

  • Warehouses

  • Medical and educational facilities

  • Back-of-house and service areas

Its versatility allows for efficient builds and consistent results.

Metal Framing as Part of a Complete System

Metal framing works best when integrated with:

  • Drywall & Insulation

  • FRP Wall Systems

  • Acoustic Ceiling Tile Systems

Our team delivers these services as a coordinated package, reducing delays and ensuring a smooth workflow from start to finish.

The Importance of Experienced Installers

Precision metal framing requires experience, attention to detail, and a clear understanding of commercial standards. From layout to final inspection, our team ensures every stud, track, and connection is installed correctly.

In commercial construction, durability and maintenance matter just as much as appearance. That’s why FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Panels) have become a popular solution in many commercial environments.

At H&D Construction, we install FRP systems as part of our commercial construction services, providing clients with long-lasting, functional wall solutions designed for high-traffic spaces.

What Is FRP?

FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Panels) are lightweight, yet extremely durable wall panels designed to withstand moisture, impact, and frequent cleaning. They are commonly used in commercial settings where hygiene, durability, and low maintenance are essential.

FRP panels are installed over properly prepared substrates and finished with trims and sealants to create a clean, professional look.

Where FRP Is Commonly Used in Commercial Buildings

FRP is ideal for a wide range of commercial environments, including:

  • Retail back-of-house areas

  • Restrooms and locker rooms

  • Food service and prep areas

  • Warehouses and storage rooms

  • Healthcare and educational facilities

These spaces benefit from FRP’s strength and resistance to wear and tear

Key Benefits of FRP in Commercial Construction

Durability

FRP panels are impact-resistant and built to last, making them ideal for high-traffic areas.

Moisture & Mold Resistance

Unlike traditional drywall, FRP does not absorb moisture, helping prevent mold and long-term damage.

Easy Maintenance

FRP surfaces are smooth and easy to clean, supporting hygiene requirements in commercial environments.

Cost-Effective

With minimal maintenance and long service life, FRP is a cost-efficient solution for commercial interiors.

FRP Installation Done Right

Proper FRP installation is critical for performance and appearance. At H&D Construction, we ensure:

  • Correct surface preparation

  • Secure panel installation

  • Clean trim and seam detailing

  • Integration with drywall, insulation, and framing systems

This attention to detail ensures the FRP system performs as intended and complements the overall space.

FRP as Part of a Complete Interior System

FRP works best when installed as part of a coordinated interior build. Our team frequently integrates FRP with:

  • Metal Framing

  • Drywall & Insulation

  • Acoustic Ceiling Tile Systems

This approach allows for consistency, efficiency, and a polished final result.

The Bottom Line

FRP panels are a smart investment for commercial spaces that demand durability, cleanliness, and long-term performance. When installed correctly, they provide a reliable solution that stands up to daily use while maintaining a professional appearance.

At H&D Construction, we recently completed a commercial interior project for Burlington located at 1901 Silverada Blvd. Our scope included metal framing, drywall & insulation, acoustic ceiling tile systems, and FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Panels) installation.

This project highlights our ability to deliver organized, high-quality commercial interiors from structural framing through final finishes.

Project Overview

Project Name: BurlingtonLocation: 1901 Silverada Blvd, Reno, Nevada 89512Project Type: Commercial Interior ConstructionScope of Work:

  • Metal Framing

  • Drywall & Insulation

  • Acoustic Ceiling Tile Systems

  • FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Panels)

The goal was to transform an open commercial space into a durable, functional interior ready for retail operations.

Phase 1: Metal Framing Installation

The project began with metal framing to define wall layouts, ceiling structures, and architectural elements. Precision at this stage ensured proper alignment for all finishes and coordination with other trades.

Phase 2: Drywall & Insulation

Once framing was completed, insulation was installed to improve sound control and energy efficiency. Drywall installation followed, creating clean, smooth wall surfaces throughout the space.

Phase 3: FRP Installation

FRP panels were installed in designated areas to provide a durable, moisture-resistant, and easy-to-maintain wall system—ideal for high-traffic commercial environments.

hase 4: Acoustic Ceiling Tile Systems

The final construction phase included acoustic ceiling tile systems. These ceilings enhanced sound absorption, integrated lighting, and completed the professional finish of the space.

Project Completion

After final inspections and punch-list completion, the project was delivered ready for use. The finished interior reflects our attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

The Result

This Burlington project in Reno, Nevada showcases H&D Construction’s ability to execute commercial interiors efficiently while maintaining high standards across every phase of construction.
